National and Regional Conferences
The Annual AISES National Conference and the many regional conferences are unique events that support the advancement of Indigenous people in STEM in many ways. The conferences provide abundant opportunities for educational, professional, and workforce development while also taking care to support members as whole people by maintaining and strengthening connections to Indigenous culture.
“I think that certainly, if success can be measured by numbers, the number of young people that now attend an AISES annual conference certainly is much, much larger than I think Norbert ever dreamed, or the Council of Elders ever envisioned. We could hold conferences in very small or maybe large rooms, the entire conference. And now the last conference that I attended when I went on emeritus status was in Spokane, Washington. A huge, huge conference center complex with floors of conference rooms with huge auditoriums. If we can measure by the number of students, I would say that AISES has certainly done well, attracting the young people to the STEM fields and and to AISES itself as an organization just by members alone.” Henrietta Mann
